It takes a village of helpers to get through a triathlon. Due to the nature of the challenge, the participants can be overcome with exhaustion to the point of becoming ill. Father and Son Complete A Triathlon Together

Father participates in Triathlons with his son who is a quadriplegic. Running, cycling and swimming did not keep this man from carrying the boy through the paces. Running was done with the son riding in a special cart in front of the older man. Cycling was done with a special bicycle and swimming was completed with the son lying in a rubber boat pulled by the father through the water. Sian Welch and Wendy Ingraham Crawl to finish Line

The ending to beat all!These two women could see the finish line right in front of them but their bodies played out and wouldn’t function to complete the run. Staggering and falling into each other they finally found themselves on all fours. Crawling was the only way they could move forward. Like tired toddlers they crawled to the finish line. Ironman Cyclying

Ironman, the long distance triathlon was first held in Hawaii. Participants had to swim 2.4 miles, ride a bicycle 112 miles and do a marathon run of 26.219 miles.     Germany’s Maik Twelsiek won this year’s Ironman Wisconsin for the second time. David Bretscher (USA) and Elliot Holtham (USA) were second and third. Despite this race being known as one of the toughest races in the country, it’s also known as one of the best for spectator support with over 45,000 people lining the course.     Andy Potts (USA) was the big winner at Eagleman on June 9th.  Angela Naeth (CAN) came in as the pro woman winner. A triathlete couple to watch are Greg and Laura Bennett, who did really good in this race.
